Hoses are indispensable in the production of alcoholic spirits. They are used for emptying and filling tankers and also in maceration, distillation and filtration processes. Stringent safety regulations are in place for the hoselines and for the entire production facilities. With good reason, because fluids with an alcohol content in excess of 40 percent are particularly highly flammable. There is a risk of a static charge being built up as a result of friction from the liquid in the hoses at high flow rates. This can transform the production area into a hazardous area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, known as an Ex-zone.
The new Purple Snake Plus Conductive from international industry partner ContiTech is ideal for transporting high-proof liquids, even one-hundred-percent pure alcohol. The helically wound black conductive strip in the white internal lining and red external cover ensures that any static charges present are safely discharged. Apart from its electrical discharge capability, the high-tech hose also numbers flexibility, compressive strength and durability, even under extreme operating conditions. It has extremely high resistance to temperatures up to +95°C and to common cleaning agents and disinfectants.
The white UPE inner lining is absolutely odor- and taste-neutral, homogeneous, smooth and plasticizer-free. It meets EC Regulations 1935/2004 and 2023/2006 on materials and articles in contact with food and EC Regulation 10/2011 on plastics in contact with food. The Purple Snake Plus Conductive also meets Recommendation III of Germany¹s Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR). In addition, it is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a food and beverage hose.
