Couplings market growth to 2020: Wind Power

According to a recent global couplings market report by, couplings are mostly used to connect shafts from a gearbox to a generator, and also provide electric insulation to avoid leakage of current from a generator to gearbox as it can affect splines and bearings in wind turbines. Therefore, growth in wind power generation is expected to drive the demand for couplings through the period 2016-2020. The report analysts forecast that the global couplings market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.3 percent during this time.

Couplings have a broad range of applications in end-user industries such as oil and gas, steel and rolling mill, wood manufacturing and general manufacturing. With the growing adoption of renewable energy practices, the couplings market is expected to have a positive outlook until the end of the forecast period. Wind power is considered the cheapest options for renewable energy. This has resulted in emerging economies like India and China investing heavily in wind power generation.
