Geislinger unveils new low-noise coupling

Geislinger has introduced its new Silenco Acoustic Coupling at SMM 2016, an international trade fair for shipbuilding, machinery and marine technology held in Hamburg, Germany.

Over the last decades, more and more international regulations concerning the limitation of environmental noise have been defined. The reduction of engine noise is one of the major issues that modern passenger ships and other applications are struggling with. To approach this challenge, Geislinger developed the new Silenco coupling.

The Geislinger Silenco Coupling is an acoustically optimised misalignment coupling. It consists of maintenance-free composite membranes with increased damping properties, composite shafts, flanges and steel spacers for length adjustments to adapt to the installation situation. The lightweight coupling shows superior resistance to chemicals and is electrically insulating. Depending on the acoustical needs and torque of the system, different versions of membranes, flanges and shafts are available.
