R+L Hydraulics GmbH presents Spidex couplings for hydraulics applications. These elastic jaw couplings are axially mountable, fail-safe and maintenance free. They stand out particularly because of their vibration damping properties. Typical applications include pumps and compressors, agricultural and construction machines as well as wind turbines.
Elastic jaw couplings dampen mild torque spikes by temporarily absorbing some of the energy. This reduces deviations in the transmission of torque and power. The design reduces body resonance during operation while suppressing any arising noises. Torque is transmitted in a fail-safe, positive engagement. Depending on the customers’ requirements, the couplings are made of steel, aluminium, grey cast iron or sintered steel. The convex profiled spider consists of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer and is exclusively pressure loaded. It absorbs any radial and angular misalignment of the two connected shafts. Spider materials excel due to their high resistance to wear and tear, elasticity, good dampening properties and resistance to oils, greases, solvents, atmospheric effects and ozone. As standard, the spider has a hardness of 92° Shore A. For higher torques a hub of 95° or 98° Shore A can be used. Operating temperatures of the couplings range from -40 °C to +100 °C. Short-term temperature peaks of up to +120 °C are admissible.
